• Due to dementia,
• The elderly would forget how to use her hand and needed Sumiati’s help to feed her.
• The elderly would forget how to swallow and needed Sumiati to guide her how to swallow.
• The elderly would forget how to urine. Every 2 hours, Sumiati would need to bring her to the toilet. Sumiati would then turn on the tap and let water to flow. When the elderly heard the water sound, Sumiati would guide her where and how to pass her urine.
• At night the elderly slept very little and would want to go out. Sumiati would follow her around the house to prevent falls and talked to her. They walked around at home until she was tired and went to back sleep.
• The elderly would forget how to drink coffee. Sumiati guided her to put into her mouth. The elderly would get angry and she would pour at Sumiati.
• Prepared and served medications.
• Accompanied for medical appointments with her employer.
• Performed housework, grocery shopping and cooking.

• She walked with a walking frame at home and used the wheelchair when going outside.
• In the last 3 years, she became wheelchair-bound after she fell down and fractured her back bone. The elderly fell down when Utami went for her off day. The elderly got dementia after the fall. The elderly weighed 83kg.
• Gave injections to reduce pain for back bone (taught by KTPH nurse).
• Administered enema and performed manual evacuation.
• When the elderly was able to walk, Utami assisted with showering, dressing, toileting (pass motion), changing diapers, feeding and getting into and out of bed.
• When she became wheelchair-bound, Utami assisted with showering, dressing, toileting (pass motion), changing diapers, feeding and transferring from bed to wheelchair and vice-versa and turning & positioning.
• Shared a room with the elderly. Woke up 1 to 2 times each night to change diapers.
• Brought the elderly out to get some sun.
• Assisted in exercises.
• Due to dementia,
• The elderly would forget what she had said. Utami would record and show to her.
• The elderly would have mood swings frequently. Utami would speak to her nicely to calm her down.
• The elderly did not sleep well at night. Utami would give her medicine.

• Accompanied for medical appointments. Updated the doctor on the elderly’s condition and bowel movements.
• Performed housework, grocery shopping and cooking.
• Cared for the elderly until she passed away.

• Due to depression, her care recipient was very quiet and did not want to talk much. Lilik would keep trying to make conversations with her to engage her.
• Sometimes her care recipient would experience episodes where she would get very anxious and afraid of something, she would clench her fists and start crying. Lilik would calm her down by hugging her, sayang her and distracting her by bringing her to watch Korean dramas.
